From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K--This installment in the series appears at first glance to be a useful overview of the human body. However, while the text flows in a pleasant Seuss-like way and the colorful artwork will please fans of The Cat in the Hat, some of the information is just plain wrong. For example, the statement that there are "soft bones in your nose" is incorrect; the nose is actually made up of cartilage. In another section, the text asserts that "in our stomachs there's food we ate three days ago." Food generally passes through the stomach in a matter of hours; it may take days to eliminate from the body, but the stomach empties relatively quickly. The heart is described as the biggest muscle in the body, but the gluteus maximus is actually the largest. For a better treatment of the subject for beginning readers, try Shelley Rotner and Stephen Calcagnino's The Body Book (Orchard, 2000) or Barbara Seuling's From Head to Toe (Holiday, 2002).--Christine A. This is one of the most delightful human anatomy books for children that I've read. It doesn't dumb down the details just to sound cute ("in our stomachs there's food we ate three days ago"). I learned we have exactly 206 bones in human body and for the first time discovered, by manually counting with my children, that at least 96 of them reside in our palms and feet alone. I also learned that the ear bones (hammer, anvil, and stirrup) together are the size of a grain of rice and we feel dizzy even after we stop twirling because the fluid in the cochlea keeps swirling and sending wrong signals to the brain. The book ends with a glorious illustration of a giant bladder emptying itself into the WC while a line of Dr. Suess characters (im)patiently wait their turn outside the restroom.

My 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter both really enjoy this book. They recently have become interested in things inside your body. My son especially loves seeing the pictures of skeletons. All the pictures are drawn though, no real xrays in this book.

It’s a great visual book of our bodies’ insides. I bought it for my 2.5 year old daughter, so that she could start learning about what we have inside of us.Here I was, showing her pictures of the brain, giving her examples, explaining how it works. We read a few more pages, she then flipped back to the page with the brain.I asked her, pointing to the brain, what this was. She says it’s a tree. I go, “Honey, we just talked about it. Think again, what is this?”She goes, “It’s a flower.”Then I realized that maybe it’s a bit early for her.. But we still love the book and she still loves to flip through the pages and ask what those things are.

What a great book this is ! It puts basic information about our bodies and the way it functions into words that a toddler can understand and the illustrations are amazing ... so colorful end interesting. This is a book that is fun and interesting and educational

Kids love this book! I can't keep it in the medical office because kids always borrow it and don't bring it back! It is the first book they reach for. Next year I am going to buy them and give them as rewards!

My child (4) really enjoys this book, and started retaining information from it after the very first read! It is a whimsical read that is very educational and fun. We have quite a few of these books in our home, so I'm sure this will not be the last I buy.

We got this book and another 2 from the Cat in the Hat series delivered today. This one is BRILLIANT!! My 2.5 year old has made me read it 4 times since it was delivered around 4pm! Obviously a few things go over his head but it is fun, interesting and you can amend the explanations to the childs age. Once I read the words, i point and explain in a way i think he gets. We wiggle our arms and legs, listen/feel our heartbeats, flex our muscles etc. Before we start the journey we hand each other a ticket and off we go!!I admit I can be a lazy parent at times but this book gets your imagination going and I am honestly smiling from start to finish. Seeing my little boy get excited about learning and having fun while doing it has been worth every cent! Not sure who enjoyed it more! Tonight's bedtime has been such a giggle that I had to come on and review the book. Will be recommending to everyone!

3 year old loves loves loves this book! She talks about skeletons, ask which one is our favorite. She can now see the digestive track and explains in her own words (per 3 year old) what happens to her food after she eats it. Great book, highly recommend it to introduce toddlers to human anatomy.
