It's cheesy but good.

My 13 year old son enjoys this book

My kids really love it

If you're interested in manga but haven't really drawn anything before, this tracing book is a good place to start. Each of the 80 characters gives you four steps (basic head; add the figure; add details; finish). The end product is a very simple black and white manga figure such as "popstar girl" or "mecha character". The book is divided into three sections: manga characters, chibi characters, and chibi monsters -- because this book is actually a compilation of three books by the same author previously published separately: Xtreme Art Draw Manga (2003); Xtreme Art Draw Manga Chibi! (2004); and Xtreme Art Draw Manga Monsters! (2005). Each of these sections starts with very brief, but clear, tips on drawing -- for example, drawing eyes and hands. I especially liked the introduction to the chibi section that explained basic differences between chibi and regular manga characters. A simple, clear, introductory book to drawing characters.

I originally pre-ordered this book in paperback but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was available in Kindle and so ordered an immediate download the other day and determined to read the book over the last many hours. It is recommended to read the book with camera in hand and I will do that next over the coming week. And read it again after that. As I have done with several previous ‘Mastering....’ books by this very knowledgeable and capable author with several decades of experience.I spent a lot of time reading and rereading his book on the D500 last winter and again in the Spring. The D500, to me, is the companion camera to the D850. And so while waiting for this book on the D850 I felt the D500 book a good resource for the D850 as well. The thing I like about these books are, not just the tips thruout by someone who has been shooting professionally for decades, but also his personal ‘Settings Recommendations’ after each section. I look forward to those things while reading each section. I also like the technical explanations set aside here and there in the book for those like myself who choose to get a little deeper in the subject matter. The camera is a technical marvel but the book explains it all very well from start to finish. Much better than the manual and more concise as well as interesting. It’s got a personal touch to it also. I think the authors books, especially this one, are perfect for anyone who really wants to know their camera inside and out.Now like I said, I read this over a couple of days - with 5 hours sleep in between. Reading his other books, and especially ‘Mastering the D500, made it easier because I knew what to expect and I’m very familiar with the material and the D850 camera which I’ve had since last December. So also I’ve been looking forward to this book since last December and to get around the wait I read the D500 backwards and forwards since then with the D850 in mind.So the very helpful tips by a professional with decades of experience, his ‘Settings Recommendations’, technical data placed throughout the book for those like me with an interest (which are easily skipped over if you’re not inclined), well thought out chapters with careful explanations for everything, camera diagrams, step by step ways to adjust settings.........make this the only book you need to understand this wonderful camera.

Like all of Darrell Young's Nikon guides, this (quite heavy) book is 650+ pages of pure-play camera. No photography basics, no lens reviews, no Photoshop, just the camera and how it works and what the settings do. Every control and menu item on the camera is exhaustively explained. It's beautifully printed and bound too. If you were one of the lucky few to snag this camera, it's worth your while to get this.

This is my third 'Master' book written by Darrell Young. There are none better. Finestkind!

Darrell's Mastering the Nikon D850 is a pleasure to read and provides you with a thorough review of the camera functions. I encourage anyone who has a Nikon to utilize his publications as they are a second to none. Photography is more pleasurable and rewarding once you have learned and practiced what is clearly explained in his book.

Awesome reference text.

Ity realy a MASTERING book, no regert at all.👌Recommendation Notes helps alot..👏👏👏

Darrell's instructional books on cameras are always beneficial, with explanations that are easily understood. But additionally, the suggested settings and tips are always helpful and appreciated. My only wish is that I had bought the printed book instead. Too late now, I guess.

The book was a nice "extra" to have when I bought my camera. There wasn't much I hadn't already picked up from blogs and YouTube. I ended up going to a one day class and learned more than I would have if I memorized the book. The seller was prompt and the book was packaged well.

#1,268 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I've been following Stonehaven for a long time now, and the conclusion of the first arc seemsFitting.I like how the characters feel like people, with dimensions. They're not flat charicatures, two dimensional stands. And they are reacting like real people. The reaction of the NPCs to the arrival of the horde of newbs was amusing, as was the happenstance of how events seemed to tangle together. Especially when considering we got a viewpoint from a newviest of newbs who had never played anything similar before. My only complaint is that the main plot seemed to happen in only a small portion of the book, but focusing on developing characters and laying groundwork for what to do after the Main Quest was finished is.important if you intend to continue the series, and I hope the author doesI can't wait for more adventures, even if I disappeared from the Stonehaven RP on Facebook. Sorry for no more campfire stories, guys!

Great continuation for the series. Devon is shy and troubled in IRL but a good person. Playing let's her open up and allow her tough and generous self to come out. This is good for Stonehaven and all its inhabitants as the Horde is coming. Dev must finish finding the keys to take over the region. To help her, old and new friends join her online.I enjoyed this book. It was less battle intensive then some of the others in the series but pulled more arcs together and set the tone for a larger world story. Looking forward to more.

Great development of the story and exploration of plot threads that had been left unaddressed. It further developed the world and continued to build on points introduced previously in the series. We start to see some of the end game of some of the beginning story arcs in this book and continues to escalate the stakes without having them seem unreasonable. New mechanics are introduced well and fit in with the timing of the plot. This series remains among my favorites within the genre and introduces new plot hooks for ever one it concludes, or begins to conclude. I eagerly await the next book.

This book continues with excellent character development and the plot is a lot of fun. It wraps up what appears to have been the first major story arc and laid the groundwork for even greater adventures. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Excellent book ...... Enjoyed Devon's continuing saga ...... Looking forward for more ...... A+A+A+A+A+

Excellent continuation of a great story.... I'm excited for the next one

Carrie Summers’ Stonehaven League is a superb series for newcomers who know nothing about RPG (Role Playing Games) but just want a well written, exciting and fun tale. It is also the perfect LitRPG series. It’s RPG action and world are done perfectly and have the feel of what virtual world RPGing must eventually evolve into (and any RPGer would drool to have the opportunity to campaign in such a virtual world game). At the same time it’s “real world” action away from the RPG world has a totally genuine feel - and both “real world” and interlinked RPG world stories work beautifully. That’s true for the series as a whole, and most certainly true for Vault of the Magi (Book 5). This is LitRPG adventure at its finest. For fans who have been addictively following along it not only advances the story line of lead character Devon (Chasing after Ishildor’s fifth artifact and building Stonehaven in preparation for the demonic invasion, which finally arrives) but also for other major characters such as Emerson (in his real world dealings, as a “noob” RPGer, and in his relationship with Devon), Owen (finally free of Zaa post-coma) and Hailey (facing death in the real world and important choices in both real and ROG world). I won’t say more as I don’t want to give things away but this is all freaking spectacular. Newcomers are advised, however, that this series really is far better read from its first book (Temple of Sorrow, a fantastic book that I separately reviewed) and then in order. It’s more than worth doing. As for this book 5, frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.Oh, one more thing: a “pro tip” of sorts. If you don’t like cliffhangers stop at the end of chapter 54. It really is the true (and wonderfully satisfying) ending of the book and this part of the overall story arc. The next, last, chapter is really a teaser for the next book and, as such, ends in a cliffhanger. It’s an interesting one but if I’d known in advance I’d have held off and only read it before starting that next book (which I’m already very much wishing was here, even if that’s a bit unfair of me).

The first 3 books were great, this one was more meh. It felt like it was 80% filler and angsty drama. *spoilers*For instance the whole emerson and Devon thing. Emerson hiding his identity felt like the author was just trying to find a way to fill page space. It didnt really add anything to the story it mostly just annoyed me. And hospital chick. I didnt really care about her at all. She was mostly just a 3rd or 4th rate character to me. Sure she was devons friend in a previous game but in these books she was mostly just an absentee friend. Chen was much more interesting and he was around to help the entire book but barely got any mention other than building a few improved bikes and a couple incidental scenes here and there. Literally all the action including the vault of the magi happens in the last 5 or 6 chapters of the book. If you read the first 5 chaps and the last 5 chaps you pretty much miss nothing if you skip the middle.Dont get me wrong I love the series, I really hope the next book continues the great story of the first 3, this one just didnt cut it for me.
