This is a lot more helpful than most wedding organizers. Some organizers are full of product placement and trendy "must haves" whereas this book helped me navigate the maze of wedding traditions and plan a solid budget. It covers little details as who pays for which expenses, dates and goals for planning, and how to honor various relatives and guests without offending them. Since my wedding planner ditched me halfway through planning, this book was a great help. It does not include much help with extra parties though such as bachelorette, bridal shower, engagement dinner, or wedding rehearsal. It does not go into menu planning or seating arrangements for the reception, so it is not all inclusive.

I thought this seemed like a great idea to help keep me organized. However, it turned out to be more of a book than a planner. It was for a very formal wedding with an unlimited budget. I wouldn't suggest this as a planner. But if you want to know wedding etiquette, this is for you

3.5 stars.Helpful, somewhat thorough (although I do believe it could be better), but not in an easy to use format.This is a smaller than normal book (think average hard cover book size) and the worksheets are not arranged in a particularly user friendly or easily read format. Also, there is only one worksheet per category (e.g. one worksheet to use for one reception site). Therefore, you will likely need to make multiple copies, which can't be reattached to book (i.e. you will have many loose papers), which increases the inconvenience factor & the likelihood of losing a sheet(s).Better than the average wedding book out there.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I have read about ten wedding planners and this one is by far the most upbeat and non-aggressive. Several other books were very opinionated and at times, sarcastic about the 'right' way to do things. This author makes suggestions and offers ideas. There are a bunch of checklists and worksheets - which are very helpful. In fact, I flagged so many pages it looked like my book had wings. Whether you are planning a formal or casual wedding this book is a great 'guide' not a rigid 'rule book'.

This is a helpful organizer. It has everything you need to plan your wedding. I did not like how small everything was where you would write comments or information. There wasn't enough room to even put someones name. So its more like a guideline book to help you. Definitley not that helpful of an organizer if I have to write super small so that I can fit some (not all) the info I need in it.

I wrote the following review a few days ago. I thought after a few days I would see the best about this book. I have to say nothing could be farther than the truth. Honestly, this an awful wedding planning book. This book is just not for the modern bride at all. It is for the very old school traditional bride that is having a traditional wedding and is following all the dated traditions. So if that is you. This is the ticket. If you are actually planning your wedding with your future husband and are paying for most of it I would skip this book. It will not help. I wish I had not writtn on one of the budget sheets so I could sell it. Maybe I will just donate it to the Good Will. Both my fiancé and I find this book to be useless and annoying.After reading the reviews I had expected this book to be pretty great. I am so dissapointed with this book. For one it has 4 small pockets to organzie stuff which means unorgnaized paper work every where. The book is the size of a journal so the pockets are the same. The information in there is for very tradional weddings that follow ettique rules from the 50's. I thought it would have great ideas. Nope.It does have check lists and such, seating charts and some other extra stuff. We will probably keep it becasue of the check lists and seating chart and becasue sending it back is harder than keeping it. I will still need to buy a book that has better planning ideas and additonal organzier to put our paper work in.Since we have already planned half our wedding the ideas in there are pretty useless. I thought it might help us on the things that we were getting stuck on. This book is written for people who have never planned a party, a budget and have not been to too many weddings. So much of plannng a wedding is common sense and you don't need to pay someone for that. I just had hoped that it would go beyond common sense and give some excellent info, have large organzationizer pockets and give me ideas on things I am stuck on. Not tell me things like, make sure you know how much each thing will cost at your recepton. Really, that is a great idea. Pretty dissapointing.

So much information it can be a little overwhelming. Great resource though. Some information seems outdated for modern weddings.

I take this with me everywhere!!! Planning a wedding is hard but this book has every scenario, checklist, and step-by-step explanations that you could possibly encounter. Very glad I bought this product.

Exactly as described when I ordered. Easy to read, and very motivating. I highly recommend this volume to any pilot that understands a continued education in aeronautical subjects like this is simply one not to pass up.

Prior to transitioning to the Austflight/Maxair Drifter, I found the book very educational and helpful. The items/topics are relevant and, although not a replacement to actual training, this book can help the novice pilot understand the behavior of the taildragger. Furthermore, the book can help prepare for an actual taildragger flight by informing the reader what to expect and how to react in situations peculiar only to the taildragger. I know I have become a safer pilot just by understanding how taildraggers work, thanks to this book.

Robson's book has excellent information on flying specific aircraft, especially pertaining to the UK and other European countries. As an experienced pilot, I found much of his aircraft specific information to be excellent and his conversational style of writing approchable. I don't think the new student would appreciate this book until he or she has flown more than one type of tail dragger. But there is a great deal of useful information contained therein. I would recommend Sparky Imeson's "Taming the Taildragger" to beginners and advanced students as well. Or Harvey P's The Compleat Taildragger Pilot Happy tail wagging!

I purchased this book from ASA in 2004 to prepare for tailwheel transition training. The text covers basic techniques applicable to any airplane but the most useful chapter covers Ground and Flight Dynamics (Chapter 2) that impact a tailwheel airplane. I felt that the book was rather "thin" and was padded by adding 90 pages discussing "different" taildraggers, usually rare and unique ones. The cover photo shows a beautiful Ryan WWII trainer but does not discuss this aircraft at all. Most US pilots I know would prefer to have a basic discussion of common types of tailwheel aircraft available to them, especially the kit-built experimentals such as the RV series. I received my tailwheel endorsement in 3.5 hours in an Aeronca 7AC (85 HP) but also received my ASES certificate in 4.0 hours in a Piper PA18-180 on EDO 2250 floats. My tailwheel flight instructor thoroughly reviewed Flight and Ground Dynamics in my first lesson with her. My reading this book prior to my first lesson at least allowed me to be able to verbalize to her my understanding of the concepts she was discussing. Rather than keep the book in my aviation library, I have lent it out to friends who have transitioned to tailwheel training who thought it useful. I currently fly a Taylorcraft BC12-D (65 HP) which handles differently than the Aeronca 7AC on landing. A discussion on these differences in comonly available aircraft would have been very useful.

This is one of my favorite theoretical books! I find Cohen's book offers great insight into monsters and why we both love and fear them. It's very relevant to border studies, the abject, third spaces and liminality. I return to it in my own work on a regular basis because not only is it innovative but very clear for critical theory. I highly recommend it.

This is a great foundational text for monster theory. I used several essays extensively for a graduate project and to create a unit plan for teaching my AP Lit class.

While I did have to buy this book for a class a few years ago, it is still a book I enjoy to read once a while to this day. It has many different helpful ways that can help expose a different way of thinking to a person and helps to open conversation in an area that most people don’t seem to think about, especially talk about. I enjoyed the topic and the conversations it started very much.

Critical theory, in my view, often walks a line between providing real insight into art and society, and getting caught up in it's own self-referential obfuscation, substituting wordiness and word play for true insight. I think that's what has happened here. At least for me, I had to work too hard to find too little.I've read a lot of critical theory, and this type doesn't do it for me. But if you like theory to be art in itself, more about itself than the purported topic--in this case monsters and monstrosities--then you may, like the other reviewer, enjoy this work. But I prefer the work of Anijar, Barone, MacLaren, work that turns outward as well as inward.I suggest using the "look inside" feature to examine this book before buying. See if it's the flavor of critical theory that moves you.

This book provides insightful and new ways of looking at those beings deemed as monsters forcing readers to confront stereotypes and archetypes in a new way.

"Monster Theory" is a collection of essays which provide useful ideas and concepts if you are interested in making sense of this time of monsters we live in.Of course, monsters have been with us for some time, and the book contains essays dealing with vampires, Frankenstein's monster and Beowulf. There is also an essay on Jurassic Park and the fascination of dinosaurs. For me, the most useful text by far was the one by editor Jeffery Jerome Cohen, in which he described seven theses on the role of monsters in culture.I found the concepts in this book useful when writing papers about such diverse topics as children's literature (monsters and the monstrous in children's lit) and popular culture (the role of the vampire).Monsters embody borderline concepts, things we worry about. Monsters are the things that trouble us at night. Whenever society is insecure and needs to find a new balance, monsters stalk the perimeter of the fence we have put up around "normality" and challenge us to alter the demarcations.I feel that anyone interested in monsters and their role in culture would profit from reading this book - and not just the student or scholar of popular culture.

I've read this book in its entirety twice now, and I am sure I will read it again, as it is about my favorite season and it is about the area where I live.The book was written more than half a century ago, but even today you can sense the freshness, perhaps because it is about the freshest season of the year. The author documents his "rediscovery" of spring in the year of 1945, along the way, he takes us to the natural environments in and around Washington D.C. -- the Tidal Basin, Rock Creek Park, Dyke Marsh, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal ... His focus is ornithology (bird watching) and the book has many vivid passages about the birds, especially migrating birds; but it also has descriptions of plants, etc. The book also contains significant portions of philosophical musings about "the hive" (the modern city life) and man's relationship with nature.I find the author's descriptions of birds and trees, and the narratives of his wandering as brilliant as found in any book. The author at his best is as good as Henry David Thoreau or John Burroughs. However, I found his ruminations about "the hive" can be excessive at times (it takes up about 40% of the book). Sure, you don't want the book to be merely descriptions of birds and narratives of trips, a little philosophical musing adds some depth; but when it gets too voluminous it detracts rather than enhances the book. In my future readings I may just pick out those observational parts to read ...

First, Market Street Books, Salisbury, MD. got the book to me fast, in exactly the condition described, better actually, and they enclosed a thank you note postcard picturing geometric abstractionist stacks of Japanese boxes. The book is swell, nature observation in 40's DC, nevertheless his perspectives, much of the environment he talks about will resonate, I think, for anyone who's watching nature near a town. He observes nature and his thoughts, and the effect is like listening to a committed birder, by turns, charming and aggravating. That's engaging. I am also looking up a lot more.

Wonderful book with great illustrations. Jog around DC and enjoy the sights and sounds of the flowers and the birds. Even though the book was written in 70 years ago, it is still relevant to the wonders of DC and to spring. Enjoy!

I orginally bought this book in 1988 and thought it a beautifully written book on not only bird watching but of a Washington that no longer exists due to modern highways and bustle. I recently purchased this book for a friend who is a bird watcher and has lived in DC. I hope he will like it as much as I do. Jenny Brake

Just amazing, another eye opener about how great a country America is. This book rightly points out Americaphobia, the raging hatred of America being pandered on college campuses, the faux racial outcry by lefties and host of other race hustlers, the likes of Coates and Cornel West. As an immigrant to this country I find it quite troubling that so many people support the open hatred and demonization of the greatest nation on earth for anyone to live. If you want to know who we are, at our best, through the eyes of a brilliant scholar and immigrant, read this book and smile and laugh through tears of pride. In my opinion, James D. Hill has written a masterpiece that should be required reading in our high schools, and for those coming to this country as immigrants. It weaves his personal story, with his in depth philosophical and political belief system, explaining in detail, why a man who could have easily joined any number of "victim" tribes to demand special status, instead decided to make a compact with America, to find his own way in this great country. Learning and living with struggle, he never seems to have lost sight of the fact that the life he was building, could not be built in any other country. His love of the country for providing that is obvious, and his story renewed my love of this country, and opened my eyes to things I have taken for granted for a long time.In the pages of this heartfelt letter to his country, this professor leaves no doubt that he believes the current university academic system is in need of overhaul because it has become overrun by tenured Marxist academics who teach hate for everything good about America. We stand to lose all that is good about America if we let them continue to subject our children to their lies. God bless Jason D. Hill, and God help us return our institutions of higher learning to the control of rational human beings..

Lyrical and passionate, personal and frequently moving, Jason Hill's WE HAVE OVERCOME is a love letter to his country and a plea for reason, an exhortation that we preserve the character and values of this country. As a Ph.D. in American Literature who taught in colleges and universities in this country over the past forty years, I can attest to the accuracy of Jason Hill's descriptions of our institutions of higher learning as indoctrination centers filling the minds of young people with alt-left views of America as an "illegitimate, counterfeit country." In his memoir, We Have Overcome, Dr. Hill--as patriots Thomas Paine and J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur before him--seeks to establish the truth of America as the first "nontribal" place in the world, where one has the freedom to create one's conception of the good life for oneself. If slavery was a "birth defect" of our country, we have always been on a "path toward self-reflective improvement." Dr. Hill's book effectively counters alt-left political arguments, and clearly, he is not afraid to do so. While he himself is a professor at a top public research university, he believes that "the chase for respectability at the betrayal of your own conscience leaves us all in the end unmoored to our our deepest core values." Like Emerson and Thoreau, he believes in the power of the individual to effect change. The change Dr. Hill seeks to effect is a return by all to an enlightened and accurate view of America as the last great hope for the world BECAUSE of her embrace of "reason, capitalism, individualism, and self-reliance." Dr. Hill has a gift for relating complex ideas in clear, simple language. His arguments are thus easy to comprehend and forceful in their reason. At the same time, his memoir is intensely personal, full of lyrical passages and heart rending moments. This book sits squarely in today's political discourse; it is a courageous and captivating testament to the greatness of America and the struggle of one born outside this country to fulfill his dream, the American Dream.I could not put the book down and read it in one sitting.

I read "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" by Thomas Sowell and these books compliment each other with proof of liberals destroying Black Americans.I believe Jason D Hill is at the same level as Thomas Sowell in freeing people of liberalism.

Gorgeous coloring book with beautiful drawings of the beauties that surround us! Forests, ocean scenes (the jellyfish and school of fishes are among my favorites), elephants, gators!! There are some beautiful mandalas in this book as well! The pages are double-sided so I would test an inconspicuous spot before using markers. The pages are non-perforated and the pictures come close to but do not encroach on the binding. The book is oversized at nearly 12" x 12". I actually got this book as it is a bit outside my comfort range and it is a "fantastic" addition to my library!!
